Happy New Year!

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13-14 AMP

We finally made it! 2021 is officially here.

We’re within the first 10 days, which means that we’re still hopeful about what’s to come and what we’re capable of in this new year and decade.

Stay in that space. No matter what. Don’t allow moments of frustration to push you back to who you were in the last decade.

The most powerful part of the scripture above is where is states “forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.” It’s so easy to be caught up in the past and allow it to impact who we’re trying to become, which is ultimately, our best self.

We have to get to the place where we say “Enough is Enough.” We have to get serious about leaving feelings of shame, guilt, anger, and disappointment in that past. Even when others try to bring it up, we have the power to turn and walk the other way.

We have to choose to be a new creature. We have the ability to choose how we respond to life. A new year doesn’t mean our problems disappear. There will be continuation of some problems and brand new problems that pop up. But it’s up to us how we will react to them. We make the choice of how we will allow issues to shape us this year.

Our goal, if nothing else, is to press toward God’s calling for our lives, which is our purpose.

Before the week is out, seek God on what He’s called you to do. Then become laser focused on THAT above all else.

And please… please… don’t look back. There’s so much more ahead of you than behind you.
